How to Identify a Fake Seiko Watch
StellarB2B only sells authentic wholesale Seiko watches . However, there are many “Feikos” on the market. This post is dedicated to identifying a fake Seiko watch.
Typically, a knockoff watch manufacturer will concentrate its attention
on the presentation of a watch instead of the mechanical components.
Nicknamed “feikos”, for fake replicas, the Seiko watch brand is
unquestionably one of the most counterfeited luxury wristwatches in the
entire industry.
In fact, because of their unique styles and extreme popularity, it's
pretty obvious why the Seiko brand has so many knockoffs available. For anyone that distributes or sells Seiko watches, it's very important to know how to tell if your merchandise is real or not.
The Seiko Back
One of the most unique features of a Seiko watch is its case backing. Coming out with its trademark back in 2002, all Seiko watches are now manufactured with a glass backing.
For anyone that distributes older Seiko watches, crafted before 2002,
it's important to know that the back of these timepieces were
manufactured with stainless steel and not plastic. Because of it's high class profile, Seiko has never used plastic on the back of their watches. In addition, Seiko utilizes a transparent or semi-transparent sticker on the back of the watch that is easily identifiable.
On the other hand, a counterfeit Seiko wristwatch will often use a
transparent sticker with a red line down the middle or a hologram
sticker on the back.
The Logo
Like most high end brand names, the Seiko logo is one of the best ways to tell if you watch is a knockoff or not.
One of the biggest differences between a counterfeit watch and an
authentic one is the spelling of the Seiko name within the logo. Typically, a fake version will have the name spelled incorrectly or not include the name at all. Some commonly overlooked brand name misspellings include Sieko, Seika or Seeko. If you are a Seiko distributor, this is definitely one knockoff red flag that you want to be weary of.
The Serial Numbers
For anyone that is selling Seiko watches, you will need to be
constantly checking the different serial numbers in order to spot a fake
timepiece. Not only do you want to inspect the actual numbers themselves, but you also need to look at how they appear.
For example, a Seiko watch will never have anything located directly
above the serial number, but a counterfeit will almost always have the
manufacturing country printed directly above or below the serial
numbers.
